Identifying the collecting browser
From version 0.2.1, the extension creates a random identity for each Ad Intel workspace address and keeps its secret in local extension storage, accessible only to the extension itself. It sends this secret over HTTPS alongside a temporary job token to bind uploads to the collecting installation. The server keeps a hash and a separate display reference with the extension version in job history. This identifies an installation, not a person, physical computer or verified IP. It does not fingerprint your browser or track other websites. Reinstalling or clearing extension storage creates a new identity. The identity alone cannot sign in, start jobs or access AI connections.
What the collector reads
When you start a collection, the extension opens a dedicated Meta Ad Library or Google Ads Transparency advertiser tab. It reads public ad copy, creative links, advertiser identity, dates and available public metadata for that advertiser. It does not read your other tabs, browsing history, passwords, cookies, private messages or AI keys.
What goes to the server
Public ad records and supported creative files are sent to your Ad Intel workspace over HTTPS. The server records who started the job, its timing, status and ad count. Your network address is visible to Meta or Google when your browser loads their pages, and to our hosting infrastructure when uploading. The extension does not send cookies or library sign-in details to Ad Intel.
Where it stays
Ad records and job history are stored in the server database. Uploaded media files are stored on the server disk and linked to those records. The current workspace library is shared with other authorized workspace users; personal AI connections are separate. A temporary job token and upload state stay in the extension’s session storage, which Chrome clears when the browser closes. The token expires after two hours and cannot access other jobs or AI connections. Public pending ad records and saved ad IDs also stay in this browser’s local extension storage so you can resume after closing Chrome. These checkpoints contain no passwords or AI keys. Only the three most recently used collection checkpoints are retained. Checkpoints older than seven days are removed when you next start a collection; uninstalling clears extension storage. Older unsaved discoveries may need to be found again; uploaded records remain on the server.
Interrupted file transfers
From version 0.2.5, the extension temporarily stores one downloaded public creative, up to 32 MB, in this browser while uploading it. This lets an interrupted upload continue without downloading the same file again. The temporary copy contains no passwords or AI keys. It is removed after a confirmed upload or recorded failure, replaced by the next collection transfer, and discarded after 24 hours when next checked. Uninstalling clears it. The server temporarily keeps incomplete upload parts; parts older than 24 hours are removed during subsequent upload activity. Only verified complete files count as saved originals.
Your controls and retention
Pause or stop at any time in the collection tab, extension popup, Browser collection page or Jobs. Stopping or uninstalling does not delete ads already saved. Saved research remains until removed from the workspace. Ask your workspace administrator for deletion of stored records and associated files; database backup copies follow the server’s backup retention settings. The collector does not install a desktop application.
Other services
Meta, Google and their creative delivery networks receive the normal requests needed to load public libraries and media. The extension contains no advertising trackers and does not sell data. Collection does not send ads to an AI provider; analysis is a separate action using your selected provider. This page will be updated when the collector’s data practices change.
